In Which I ramble

I'm not 100% sure what the hell is going on here but back in may Splitter was kind enough to make a special guest post on my blog and lately the hits have really been racking up for that particular post.
It has just as many hits as all of my other blog posts combined in the past week or (perchance) even longer.
Whatever, I'll take the traffic any way I can get it.
On that note, the number one way people are finding my blog is via the search word "lesbian" so I've got that going for me.

I will also be passing the 50k page hits mark in the near future which is a pretty f'n cool thing if I do say so myself.

None of that is what I came here to talk about today though.  I came to talk about changes.

Yesterday Carmel and I spent some time together and both acted like perfect adults.  There was no arguing, no accusations no outward ill will or any of the other things that we have come to expect over the course of the past year or so.  We got together and finalized the last bit of paperwork for the house and talked like normal adults.  On the bell curve this currently falls somewhere around fucking outlyer.

So with that being said I'm now less than two months from having to physically move every bloody thing I own one more time.  I've only done it like 40 other times during my life so what is one more right?  Last time I enlisted the help one one friend, this time I'm going to expand exponentially and enlist the help of upwards of 4 friends.  While this might be hard for some of you to believe, I might actually have four friends who happen to live within some proximity of me who actually would help me get all of my shit from point A to point B.  (one of them is just going to be on Vacation and visiting so I have yet to tell him how he is spending his Vegas Vacation yet - Sucker!!)

In all honesty, I fucking hate packing more than I hate moving.

Referenced and Linked above is "the penis mightier than the sword" C.S. Splitter who, as I hear rumblings from his editor, is almost completed with his 3rd book "The grrouchie."
(working title that I just made up, may or may not be true).
As I was talking to his editor today I told her how excited I was to actually see myself in print form (if you didn't know, I'm going to be a fictional character in the book and at one point I heard through the rumor mill that I might not die and could end up in book #4 *nudge nudge*).  Of course she then alluded to she couldn't wait either and was the one tasked with making me look good, er, I mean making his book look good and readable.
So, I'm now asking for everyone to donate to my Paypal account so I can pay her off as she edits me magnificently so that everyone falls in love with the character and clamorous for more until I am a folk hero legend with a cult following and millions and millions of letters are sent to Splitter demanding my own Spin Off Novel, Series, TV Show and Movies.  I want action figures and plushies and a fucking T-shirt that says "I survived a Splitter Novel as a extra."
Oh, I'm going to be so famous in my own mind!

And lastly I want to mention that even though it hasn't been brought up in the past couple of months I am still constantly thinking about my future career as an Open Mic Comic.
While I have yet to use her talents and services, the lovely Linda Lou will be taken advantage of (left up to your imagination).  I feel blessed to have randomly made such a contact who is also a nice person, outgoing and actually wants to help out someone aspiring to torture himself in such a manner.

My plans have never changed but life is all about having to be in the right place to do things properly.  I am slowly getting to that right place, I feel it's just around the next corner or two, maybe over the next hill but the time is coming.  With that said I've also made another contact who currently happens to live in the greater Pittsburgh area and is a Die Hard Steelers fan as well.
This contact also is thanks to the Internet (so thank you Al Gore for inventing that for me).  She is the aunt of one of my Facebook pals whom I worked with at my current Retail job and actually cuts the hair for my mother.  The niece, not the aunt. I confused myself.  In the interest of confusion I'm not editing any of that - screw you guys, figure it out yourself.
Anyways, this person added me on Facebook recently and we started talking about the Steelers and other things of awesome import when somehow it was discovered that I'm interested in being an entertainer (not that type) and want to give comedy a try.  This is when I found out she has somewhat of a background in writing (comedy specifically) and totally wants me to leech off of her teat and will allow me to use her as a resource as well to help me achieve my goals.

Right now I think the world is in love with me and great things will be happening.
And as the great Jim Morrison once said.
C'mon and Touch Me Baby!
OoOoooo, yeah, right there.

Sunday Morning

The last few days I really just haven't been in the mood to write anything.  It started with a bloody awful poker session Friday night where I could do no right what-so-ever.
This one example details the whole painful night.

I got seated in between two big stacks, I was sitting in the 4 seat at the time.
Seat 3 straddled every opportunity possible (His button and UTG) making me wish I were a couple of seats away so that I could actually see if anyone else was going to be in the pot before making some decisions.  Seat 3 also was sitting on a $1,000 stack and was not afraid to put his chips in the middle.  So, while I was on his left, where I want to be, he was making the pots more expensive than they needed to be and as such my $200 stack wasn't happy.
Seat 5 was sitting on about $700 and he absolutely loved to raise.  $10-12 was common from him about 3 out of every 5 hands.  So within an orbit I recognized that I needed to get on his left, have both of them to my right so that I could think about things and make my decisions easier.

Within two orbits the 6 seat opened up and I moved over as quick as humanly possible.  This is where life began to suck.  Random Fish took my old seat at the 4.
5 hands into him sitting down (6 hands after I moved) Random Fish flops a set of 2's, turns quads and then proceeds to stack two full stacked people - tripling up.
Me?  My 2 pair lost to quads, my straight lost to a flush, Top 2 lost to a flush, my hair lost to a flush, my libido lost to a flush.  My flopped set got ignored by the other 6 people seeing the flop as they folded.  My flopped straight was folded to and my only flush was largely ignored as well.
Within 6 hands of Random Fish tripling up his initial $200 buy-in in ONE fricking hand both Seat 3 and Seat 5 racked up and left for the night.
I didn't have to move after and the poker dogs were punishing me by telling me if I would have just stayed put then I'd have a lot more money to play with.
Fuck you poker dogs, fuck you.

In other news, it's not morning but I'm trying to fool you all with the title of my post.

My good buddy Splitter is not only my bitch, but he lets people know he was embarrassed to receive my birthday gift to him last year.

I helped a friend move furniture today which turned out to be a fucking horrible idea.
Let me explain.

Heavy Dresser that needs to make it up a flight of stairs.  I've got bottom because I hate walking up stairs backwards carrying heavy shit.  Also, I'm fat and if the furniture falls out of someone else's hands up the stairs I feel that my cushion (for the pushin') is better to absorb landing on my fat ass rather than some skinny twerp.
So, carrying the dresser around chest height to have a good grip we turn to face the steps when my foot goes off the sidewalk and into the dirt.  This is about an inch drop off and because I have really weak fucking ankles my right ankle twists just a little so that I have to avoid falling, but while in the process of not falling I somehow manage to slam the dresser right into my fucking throat causing me to not breathe too well at the time and feel like complete shit afterwards for, well, multiple hours now.
Revenge will be mine.

I'm running through Doctor Who Season 6 again because I think it's a brilliant season of TV programming.
I'm waiting for Breaking Bad Season 4 to ship to me this month - and I just got the price adjusted from Amazon.com to match Best Buy's price for when it releases on Tuesday - saving me about $10-12 bucks.

I've been playing Skylanders and love it.  It feels like a modern day Gauntlet that is a bit more cartooned up for the kids.  Only annoyance is that it only has kiddie difficulty which means that it's not challenging at all (but still fun to play) and of course I appear to be using an over powered shooter anyways.
The story is fun and the levels are well put together.  I'm a completionist in games like this so I've only made it through the 1st 6 levels (out of 20) and I'm not even close to bored with it.  I should have this beaten by the end of the week.

Cobwebs

Splitter has gone missing and a certain grrouch decided to use that opportunity to drink his beer and leave his underwear lying around.

So, more important than just making a random guest post elsewhere is the information revealed in the comments section!

Please check it out and let me know what y'all think!

Good - Bad - Ugly

Lets start with the good because I like the feeling that there is no where to go but down.

On one of my favorite blog's it's Ask Tom Tuesday with special guest referee - ME!
I'll admit that it's not pretty but dammit I laugh every time I read over my response.
I don't laugh because it's funny (well, it is to me at least) but I laugh because it's true.
Guys are mostly disgusting pigs and you women are all saints for allowing us to be ourselves most of the time.
You all deserve to be put up on a pedestal (high enough for us to look up your dresses)!

If anyone is interested you can rent me out for your blog as well - I'll even let you choose the topic that I talk about.  Like a litter of unwanted puppies I'm "free to good home - or Chinese Restaurant."

Hmm, I think I covered the good and the ugly all in that one.
Now, the bad.

93%
93.4% more precisely.

At one point over the course of the past year I got the feeling that there is a minor deity who is looking over my shoulder and shitting on me.  However, over the course of the past 4 poker sessions I have come to believe that the minor deity is really a major deity whom I have managed to piss of in some unbelievable way.

Maybe I pulled the finger trick on him, or maybe it was on his wife.
Maybe I accidentally did something really mean to one of his daughters (note, I love a good succubus).
Maybe I did nothing wrong at all but look pretty at the wrong moment and now someone who woke up on the wrong side of the torture chamber is taking it out on me.

In a recent blog post I mentioned the hand where I flopped a set of 3's and another guy went runner runner 6's in order to hit quads and take a large sized pot from me.
In that hand I was approx 97.8% to win - so that makes today 93.4% not really that impressive.

However, less impressive or not here is what went down.
I'm fairly new to the table and in late position and raise it to $15 with Ad Ac
I get 4 callers to make it a $75 pot.
Flop comes Kh Jh Js
Checks to me and I bet out $50 and get 2 callers.
Turn is a 2x
checks to me and I push, I get the same two callers.
The river is the last King in the Deck.
Player 1 has KT
Player 2 had KT
Player grrouchie wonders what he has to sacrifice in order to win a pot.

Not cool Satan, not cool.

However, it was cool to hang out with Rob for a bit again - but that's the last time during this trip of his.
I'm back to the savings board as that was my stash - burned up with a 93.4% chance to win the pot!

The Dark Side

In craps, the Dark Side is often used to refer to someone who is betting the don'ts.
Don't Pass and Don't Come.
Talking to a friend at work the other day he indicated to me that there are only two ways he ever plays when he is at the craps table and most of the time he is playing the Dark Side.
He will have his Don't Pass bet with odds and he will play one or two Don't Come bets with odds as well.
Basically, he is the jerk at the other side of the table who is happy when everyone else is losing.  His theory is that the house always makes their money so he should be on their side as well.

The other way that he occasionally plays is to place the 5, 6 and 8 and play the field as well.
This way you win money with every roll of the dice (except the 7).  Granted, you win less with the 5, 6 and 8 because you are getting paid for those bets but you are also losing your field bet at the same time.   This is a strategy that people have employed a lot in craps and it is probably best to play this way if you are going to take all your action down after 2 or 3 hits.  It's boring and it's slow, but it's consistent.

Speaking of The Dark Side - Rob is back in town and he owes me some grub.  I will most likely be meeting up with him tonight for food and then some No Limit action at BSC.  Food will be tasty and I will be satiated and hopefully when I hit the tables I can go on a hot run and triple up in a matter of 3 hours.  That would be nice and it would put me back in business to play once or twice a week again.

Other than that I believe that every single one of you should check out Splitter's website again on Tuesday (if you aren't already in the habit of checking it out at least once a week that is) for a very special Ask Tom Tuesday with a Very Special Guest (wink wink nudge nudge).  I've been informed that somewhere around 12:45 am on the east coast side of the States (9:45 pm ish here in Vegas) the post will be up for your viewing pleasure.

Quick and Easy

So, this is going to be just like I like my women, Quick and Easy!

Tomorrow after Craps Class I will be hitting the bank and destroying my dental bill - meaning it will be going away and will be no longer.  That's going to make the day all nice and full of puppies and rainbows for me.

The negative is that this means I won't have any money in my poker bankroll any longer and It will probably be another month or so before I get to play again.  But hey, the "no debt" thing is more important to me than playing some silly game anyways (I'll pout later when everyone is tweeting about it and I'm stuck at home reading Batman Comics).

The other thing is that over on CS Splitter's blog it's Ask Tom Tuesday again and I just really love Tuesdays because of that.  This week is extra special because none other than myself came up with the question!

I hope you enjoy the question, and the lead up, and of course the answer as well.
Go take a looksie!

Special Guest Post by Splitter

Ladies and germs, Today I bring to you something I have not done before and that is allow someone else's thoughts to be the post instead of my own.

I have posted about this individual before as since being introduced to him I feel we have forged a fun little friendship built around Pro Football (The Pittsburgh Steelers), books, and a very strong common sense of humor and table manners.

I am referring to Splitter from splittersworld.blogspot.com.

He has written two books that I highly enjoyed in The Reluctant and The Willing which I recommend to anyone who enjoys action/adventure books with a good sense of humor.  He is currently working on his third book in the series which focuses on everyone's favorite lesbian protagonist Lorena (going to be called The Lesbian?)

He just finished up with a "blog-tour" to promote his last book where he had "guest posts" on 20+ blogs over the course of the last month.
During that period he approached me with the idea of posting on my blog to let his hair down and blow off some steam.  I feel pretty damned honored that when he decided he wanted to be a bit less politically correct he thought of me first!   I raise my beer to that comrade.

So, without further wait - I bring you Splitter (and I recommend you all check his blog and his work out at some point).

ps - he sent me the blog, I added some pictures for enhancement as he gave me permission lol.
-------------------

The blogtour is OVER! I can breathe again. I can go back to writing again. I can be myself again.

Well, sort of. You see, as a writer trying to sell books, you really cannot be yourself. You are an
image, a brand. You have to tiptoe around everyone so as not to give insult. You have to present
yourself as “likeable” to the largest number of people possible.

It sucks. Look at my friends list on Facebook. There are people there from all political persuasions so
I get inundated DAILY with those bullshit posts. Then they ask, “Why do you never 'like' or comment
on my posts?” Well, it could be that I don't agree with them. It could also be that if I actually take a
stand on an issue, anyone who doesn't agree with me might decide to never buy my books again or,
worse, go leave bad reviews just because I prefer blue to red.

Hey, when I am outside of my author persona, I have made political posts and debated many things
over the internet with people I don't even know. I admit it. But not ONCE has ANYONE ever
changed their mind about their own views because of those debates. People just like to hear themselves
talk. And they LOVE to show that because they feel a certain way about a certain issue they are “good
people.”

I don't wish to be mean, but NO ONE CARES WHAT WE THINK!. You might think they do because
they “like” your post. You might think that your opinion matters because they choose to argue with
you. But, let's face it, in the end your opinion is only important to you and your real friends who
PROBABLY agree with you on everything anyway. If you did not share similar values with your
friends, they probably would not be your friends in the first place, would they?

Side note: I love LOLCats and such. Post the shit out of that stuff because it makes me laugh.

To all the authors out there, and this includes me, enough of the “buy my book” stuff. Yeah, I do it too
because...well, I guess it is sort of mandatory. I understand, and you should too, that we usually aren't
going to go around buying each other's books. Sometimes we will, but when most of your Facebook
and Tweet “friends” are also authors, you are barking up the wrong tree.

I would like you all to note, however, that while my posts might usually be about my books, my
comments on your posts are not and I do try to be funny, interesting, or supportive. I do apologize for
all of my “blogtour stop” posts lately, but I had to do them. That's over now. Maybe I'll find some cute
pet photos with funny captions to lighten the mood.

About those kids of yours...they are cute but ENOUGH ALREADY! I like keeping up with you and
yours, but I don't need to know every time Little Billy finds a new booger. Really.

Farmville and Words are not games I am going to be playing so please stop sending me requests. Do
you need fake Farmville money? Fine, take whatever is in my fake Farmville account if I have one.

Enough with pulling me into groups without asking me. Don't ask, either, unless it is something you
really think I would benefit from. I already had to crap out on a writing group that I REALLY wanted
to participate in because I got too busy. I am not interested in the Vaginal Fantasy Hangout any more
than I am Thinking of Cake. I like to eat cake, not think about it...

While we are at it, if I “like” your shit, fucking “like” my shit, ok? I don't care whether or not you
really like it, but a reach around is just courtesy. I am not saying that you have to like all my shit, just
enough to keep me from noticing that this is a one way relationship.

I'm not gay. It's all right if you are though. Seriously. We can chat and all that but no coming on
to the “artist writer” after you know that I am married. I know, I put gay characters into my stories
sometimes and that might make you think that I, too, am gay (fine, that reach around comment above
did not help my case...), but my wife's profile is right there! I don't put gay characters into my stories
because they are gay and I don't glorify or humiliate them any more than I do other characters. They
just happen to be gay.

For the other side, stop hating on me for putting gay characters into my stories. Really, they won't
jump off the page and sodomize you, I promise. I am not pro or anti gay...I just don't care. People are
people.

If you are a lesbian who bought my book because you thought it was about lesbians: sorry. I don't
know where you got that information. There is a lesbian in it but it's probably not what you were
looking for. By the way, I went back and looked at the other books in your list, that's how I know you
are a lesbian. Thanks for the 1-star rating with no explanation to help other readers. Hey, my main
character is a guy that can be sexist at times and if you had bothered to leave a review that gave that as
the reason for the single star rating, I would not have mentioned you here.

I will not share a photo if I agree and I do not believe that doing so will bring me an angel. I am not
saying that I do or do not believe in angels, I just don't think they follow Facebook.

Yes, people die in my books. I killed three people just yesterday and am now trying to figure out how
to dispose of the bodies. It's sort of my thing. But “I” really do not kill people, I just write about it.
My characters kill people and, if you looked at the cover, you SHOULD HAVE FIGURED THAT
OUT by the guns that the chicks are ALWAYS holding. If good guys that kill bad guys are not your
type of hero, then read something else because you will NOT like my good guys because they are NOT
good!

I am not Tom Crayder. I let you slide on the first two emails that address me as Tom, but that third one
creeped me out a bit. I am very glad you liked the books, however.

I know you think that guns are evil things that jump off of tables and kill people all by themselves,
but I disagree. Guns don't kill people, husbands that come home early do. I put a gun on the cover. I
had my protagonists shooting someone in the first chapter. If you hate guns, why are you reading my
books? For that matter, how do you find movies or TV shows to watch?

To the gun lovers: I know that I could have portrayed gun owners in a better light and that not
everything I write promotes “the cause.” Hey! I am a fiction writer! Who cares what I say on the
matter? Besides, sometimes people DO use guns to hurt other people. That sort of what they are built
for.

“Did you see what I wrote on Twitter?” Nope. 90% of my Twitter followers are also authors and 90%
of what they write is “buy my book!” I don't read Twitter unless you mention my name. So why do I
have Twitter? I am told it is just something I should have.

And what's with all the tweets the DO mention my name, but it is just one of a list of other names?
What IS that?

Lastly, here is a big, double MIDDLE FINGER to PayPal for not only letting a guy in China mess up
my PayPal account, but ALSO my bank account. You'll investigate? Good, because I don't know Duy
Vu Huong (unless he is related to Won Huong Lo). I wish you would have taken my word for it.

Thanks for letting me vent here, Grrouchie!

Splitter

-------------------------------
And thank you Splitter for deciding to liven up my blog with a bit of a rant.
Anytime you feel the need to blow off steam you have a 2nd home here that you can set up shop in.

To everyone else, I hope you enjoyed this break from my ramblings but have no fear - I'm got other shit coming down the pipeline!

TGIF

While TGIF has been used for millions of years and almost everyone says it come a certain day of the week, I'm just going to pretend that I stole it from Josie today as I watched her grab a $109 token to on BCP.

However, for me TGIF stands for Thank Gawd I'm Funny because 1) Friday's mean nothing to me and 2) I'd never pick up chicks with my looks. :)

Friday was good to me mainly because it was the first day this week where I had a normal pace at work and didn't have more work than I could feasibly accomplish in my 8 hour shift.
Today was also payday and it's nice to know that, temporarily, there is actual money in my bank account.  I have one more day of work before my weekend begins and I'm really looking forward to it.

I started playing Tales of the Abyss on my 3ds and while it's fun so far it makes me realize that I really like JRPG's more than I like ARPG's.  Something about that turn based system that I really like and while I can have fun with action combat it just feels like the game becomes a button mashing experience (same reason why I've never been into fighters).

I think this is going to be my new hobby for Lunch Hour at work until the game is beat.  While I do have a bunch of other books on my Kindle that I could start reading I kind of want to be side tracked a bit.

While reading over comments from my last blog, Waffles pointed out that he has done the same push-up routine that I am currently attempting and gave the advice to take it slowly and go at my own pace because the routine, as laid out online or wherever, accelerates much faster than it probably should.
So, being physically inept I am going to heed that advice and just go at my own pace.  Today I repeated Week 1 Day 1 and my last set was 6 non-girl pushups, I feel like that is minor improvement for my 1st week. Monday  will be another Week 1 Day 1 and Wednesday will be my first attempt at Day 2.

For those of you who follow Splitter's Blog, his book The Reluctant has once again surged into the top 100 of Amazon.com's rankings.  Last I knew it was #68 in Fiction and #4 in Action/Adventure.
I believe this is a direct correlation to his "Blog Tour" that he is doing, getting the word out there to a bunch of people who would not have previously given him a chance.
For those that do read (not just blogs, but books with words, lots and lots of words) I really cannot recommend his books enough.  They mix a great deal of action and adventure with well timed and placed humor. And, right now, The Reluctant is on sale for FREE while The Willing is on sale for 99 cents.  That's all you can eat for under a buck people.

And finally, whatever I was coming down with appears to be going away.  Hopefully the scratch in my throat will be gone by Tomorrow and my weekend will be sick-free.  I found out that 5 of 6 of the people who I played poker with on Sunday also had the same issues, so I'm going to blame it on the big group orgy that we had after the game (winner chooses how to celebrate - never let an 80 year old woman win is my suggestion to you all).

Week of the Shit-Storms (week in review)

So I make a post about cats and dogs and I get my most commented on post yet. This started as an alternative post to Josie talking about how she doesn't much get along with the canine species.

On Twitter Poker Grump pointed me to an article about how cats, in all reality, might actually be driving their owners crazy.
There are a lot of words on that page, but it's worth a read.
I've also had fellow Blogger The Crafty Southpaw come back with an article about how he doesn't agree much with my assessment that cats are vile evil creatures from another dimension, but instead loves his cats and gives many reasons why. I would also like to point out that I'm quite happy that he spelled my internet alter ego correctly by including two r's which most people either over look or don't care about :)

I also accidentally stirred up a shit-storm on Robs Vegas & Poker Blog when I commented on a post comparing two people. I since have deleted my post and the person I pissed off has his deleted as well.  However, there was a lot of fun on Twitter that started because of my comment.

Small Potatoes wrote up a post that reminds me one of my main goals with being a homeowner, poker games.
I'm looking forward to being able to have friends over to the house (hopefully by the end of the year) to enjoy a nice small stakes game of poker withe some good snacks and a bunch of beer.  Sure, someone might accidentally win $20-$40 bucks one night but I'll be damned if first prize isn't going to be more about bragging rights.

I'm also going to re-point out that C.S. Splitter now has his books available on Create Space in print form. They will soon be coming to Amazon in print form as well. Or, if you prefer to go all new-age on us then you can also pick them up from Amazon.com in e-book form as well.

Conversely, editor extraordinaire Tricia Kristufek is also pimping out the Splitter books as well - and recently has converted her blog over to her own domain name.

Yesterday I finally got my lower wisdom teeth removed. It was a fun process full of extra Novocaine that made it hard to swallow for a while.  It took a good 3+ hours before the effects finally wore off and then the soreness set in.  It's not so agonizingly annoying like some people make it out to be, but the biggest annoyance is that I really could go for some food right now.
It's recommended that you eat baby food for the first day so that nothing gets into your new bloody wound and causes an infection, or keeps it open causing it to bleed even longer.  So, dinner last night was a bowl of ice cream.  Today thus far I had a slim-fast shake and i've got a bunch of power-aid drinks to get me through the day.  However, it doesn't stop my desire for real sustenance.  I'm going to gorge when I get the chance.

I found a 1 month Xbox Live subscription card among my junk (no, not that junk). So, I activated the code as I plan on playing some Gears of War 3 tonight with Matt (who lives in PA and doesn't have a blog or anything cool for me to link to).  I have yet to really even play the game so we plan on running through it this weekend so that I can open up Insane mode.
Then myself, himself, Timself and Gregself are planning on running through Gears to beat it on Insane mode which will probably unlock achievements for beating the game on Insane, Beating the game with another person, Beating the game with 3 other people, and Beating the game at home and naked while singing the Star Spangled Banner (and probably a lot fucking better than Steven Tyler did).

Splitter's Blog

I just wanted to take a moment to pimp out a friends blog.

Every Tuesday he is doing a segment called "Ask Crayder."

Tom Crayder is a character in his novels The Reluctant and The Willing and whatever this future novel that I'm being told is going to be out later this year, maybe The In Trouble with The Wife.

Either way.  Today's blog involves Man-Speak and gives a lot of information into the male mind that women should really pay attention to and try to understand.

Now, if only there were some woman who would want to share what their convoluted Woman-Speak means, though I'm pretty sure that we, as men, would not have the attention span to read the entire 20 page article dedicated to "You should know what you did wrong" let alone anything more serious.

So, Everyone, please check out Splitter's Blog and I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.
I also highly recommend checking out both of his books. The Reluctant is currently Free, and The Willing is only $2.99.
For those of you who would rather have actual covers and pages and whatnot, BOTH books are going to be released for sale as an actual book on Amazon.com come Valentines Day.

Thank You.

On Writing

Here's the thing - this whole blogging experiment which I have gone through several times and then quit when I got bored of it is more to get me to write more than to actually interact with people.
Do not get me wrong, it tickles my fancy to no end when I see that someone has actually taken the time out of their day to not only stop by and read what I have to say, but to comment on it in some way as well.
I've always fancied myself as being the creative type in some manner, but I have never been able to harness the power so to speak.  I generally have ideas floating around in my head but I always feel that it comes off horrible when I try to put it to paper.
I used to write a lot in high-school, short stories and what not. Then college I found myself taking some creative writing courses just so that I could write more.  I enjoyed them a lot but when they were done so was I.

This past Xmas (I know, it was so long ago) I found myself gifted with a Kindle Fire which has really started putting me back into the reading mood.  I have gone through 2 novels by C.S. Splitter, a collection of short stories by S.J. Moyer and A short story by Stephen King and am now working my way through The Dark Tower Part 7.

The more I read the more I have this desire to write which explains the frequency of which I update this little corner of my internet universe. However, what I would really like to do is get to the point where I can take the demons in my head and craft them into honest-to-goodness short stories to share with my friends (and potentially have them not suck).

So, I think that I'm going to have to start looking for books on the craft of writing.  I'd like to read about how others approach the idea of a story.  It has to start somewhere (that is after your original idea).  How do people do it though?  Do you map out your ideas in a time line?  Do you make a flow chart of different characters and idea's and plot devices and then just somehow connect them all?  Do you just sit down and type and see what comes out and then figure out a way to work it all together after the fact?

If anyone has any advice or can point me to something that they think would be a good read on the subject I'd love to hear about it.

Now, back to The Dark Tower so that Very Josie and Tricia Kristufek don't continue to brow beat me about not having finished it.  :)
